Extract(s): Daily Dose of Lit publishes original poems, short stories, excerpts from new books and more. To get a sense of what we like, visit the blog.
Our Mid-Week Feature is where we showcase work that presents narratives and poetry in non-traditional ways. Like our original Haiku feature, we embrace work that uses visual elements to enhance storytelling and deepen meaning. We are looking for graphic poems, comics, narrative photography, video poems, short films, and things we haven't even imagined yet. We encourage collaborative submissions in this category.
Our primary requirements remain the same: quality work that sticks with us.
Size limit: 1500 words or less
Please submit one short story (fiction or non-fiction) of no more than 1,500 words. We are looking for fresh, well-crafted stories that make us cry and laugh and think. We want to be moved in some fundamental way in as few words as possible. Our readers should carry your characters with them as they go about the rest of their day—or longer.
Please submit no more than 1,500 words of prose and three poems from a book that has been published in the past three months or will be published in the coming weeks/months/year. We will accept excerpts from publishers and writers.
Please submit no more than five (5) poems. Our submission period is always open, but please wait at least six months before sending another.
